Suburban police have been warning residents about leaving cars unlocked with key fobs inside.

Cars are attractive targets for criminals in the city and in the suburbs. This Chicago Tribune article highlights a disturbing trend in suburban car thefts of unlocked vehicles with fobs left inside. Criminals prowl in neighborhoods trying to open the doors vehicle after vehicle and often find success. In the city where cars are locked more often than not criminals look for anything visible worth stealing in a quick “smash and grab”. Please, don’t leave your car unlocked and don’t invite smash and grab car break-ins by leaving packages, backpacks or laptops visible on the car seats. Click here to read more.
